Toggle wins major media award
SINGAPORE — Toggle, MediaCorp’s multiple device entertainment service, has won the Best TV Everywhere/Multi-screen Video category at this year’s Cable & Satellite International Awards.
The category is for initiatives that provide any form of video to two or more screens, including TVs, PCs, mobile phones, tablets, gaming consoles and other connected devices inside and outside the home.
In winning the award, Toggle beat five other finalists, including Israel’s Applicaster and a partnership between Verimatrix and TiVo.
Mr Philip Koh, MediaCorp’s Managing Director of Convergent Media, said it was an honour to win the award as a newcomer in the market. “This is a great affirmation of what we have set out to do — provide entertainment across multiple devices to our viewers no matter where they are,” he said.
Toggle was launched earlier this year following the recent fundamental changes in the way technology has allowed people to consume media.
The service offers entertainment, information and news to viewers online, on smartphones, tablets and smart TVs.
Viewers can choose to subscribe to their favourite channels and movies or simply register at no cost to watch free local content that MediaCorp has the rights to.
Mr Koh added that the service is going from strength to strength. “We are continuously tweaking the interface to improve the user experience as well as adding more and better content,” he said
“We are also excited that the Toggle app on Smart TVs will enhance the home viewing experience and we are pleased to announce that the Toggle app is currently available on LG Smart TVs, and on Samsung Smart TVs soon.”
