Hi Gurus, is The Edge worth subscribing to?
Worth it if you are going to faithfully read it every week.

I am subscribed to this but I have also realised most of the information is readily available if you are constantly on the flow with market news. A portion of it is simply re-prints from Reuters or Bloomberg. There are a couple of articles which are relevant to macro issues and can be a quick catch up (or a good summarised article) if you have not been following the news. Other than that, the rest are simply articles on Singapore corporations which I feel just adds marginal value to your research or your general knowledge of the markets.

Conclusion: it's a good read and worthwhile if the subscription cost is not a pain to you.

The key focus of mine is always on cover stories, and interviews. The rest mostly are as dzwm87 highlighted, already available in news, but at the convenience of single point access.

It is a good buy for me with $3.80 per copy weekly from retailer, or $2.65 per copy weekly via 1 year subscription.

Thanks for the response!

Have bought and read a few copies now and then at the full retail price, so thought of subscribing for a year to try it out. They've changed their policy to non-refundable though hence the hesitation.
Phillip Securities has a rewards program where $1 commission payable = 1 point. 7500 points for a free 1-year Edge subscription. 50% of points expires every year on 31st Jan. So far, I have been able to exchange my points for a free Edge subscription every couple of years or so.

As for the Edge itself, it's a rather good read but any info of significance can actually be found by just reading SGX Annc... Big Grin

Must take a look on the point accumulated... Tongue
The edge mag is good read previously with good articles on local companies.

Lately it features alot of funds interviews and adverts of high life living. Not going to renew this time.
