so if i am single and don't have intention to marry..family..etc.
my expenses are just;

1) Insurances - health
2) Food & water - health

Just beat the expenses and i am finanically independent!!

It'd removed a lot of potential stress to start off with a good 'Margin of Safety' eg. 20%-50%. This margin will better allow one to survive any unexpected large one-off expenses or drop in passive income stream or miscalculations... In addition, it helps to increase the level of passive income (when invested well), allowing one to have a choice of either a better lifestyle or to help others who are less fortunate (Charity)... Yes, more choices...Cool
to me, financial independent means able to grow yr own vegetables and carrots, barter trade yr skills for a meal from yr neighbor and no need to see the smelly dollar notes forever..
A lot of people are force to become investor because of the low interest rate in FD... be it stocks or property.
I once attended a talk where the speaker defined financial freedom in the time domain instead of the money domain.

In other words, a person reaches financial freedom when he has sufficient passive income to fund all his expenses until he dies. The absolute amount of money does not come into the picture.

Using d.o.g.'s definition (post #518 of this thread) when a person has income > expenses, he would have the financial means to last infinite number of years, hence that scenario is a superset of being financially independent.

Perhaps you're a SAFRA member? From the site,

SAFRA members do not need to register, your benefits will be sent to you automatically via post.

Call the hotlines. Earlier year NS records were likely to be in paper and books and collating data from these sources are tough.
As long as your dad has any proof of NS, I suppose he will get the vouchers.
