I wonder why THG buy out the WoS. Could it be scared of competition from WoS?
The sudden presence of THG in five major malls namely VivoCity, The Paragon, Centrepoint, Tampines Mall and City Square Mall will certainly improved its competitive advantage, relationship and negotiation power with the various landlords, especially at "The Paragon" where THG seems to always want a presence there but never got a space. Also Prestige Watch market is also a sector whereby it is likely to complement the business of its luxury watch market, where targeted customers and their customer demographic are different. A good move and thumbs up to THG management...
They should be wary of competition from foreign players. Emperor had already set up a branch in Singapore and there's a possibility that more HK competitors like Hengdeli and Luk Fook could also be entering the Singapore market.
All i want to know who is the person whom force key a bid at 0.102 today.

And there was no other bid for 5 mins? ha ha..

Mr Crab, please help increase the liquidity of this stock.

Put yourself in that position of a 'chinese' buyer; buying few watches worth few hundred thousand dollars in CASH; trust is very important. Would you 'trust' in this case a mainland affiliated Company or a privacy assured Spore Company.

Emperor, Hengdeli and Luk Fook are not mainland affiliated companies. They are long established HK watch retailers with many outlets in China. Chinese tourists who shopped in Singapore are more familiar with these brand names than Hourglass.

Furthermore, they have more bargaining power than Hourglass. Hengdeli itself counts LVMH and Swatch as major shareholders. If Hengdeli is serious about expanding in Singapore, Hourglass will be in big trouble.
Interesting developments in THG....

1st was the announcement of share split and now the acquisition of WoS..

I think THG is worth monitoring.

Just my personal opinion only.

Agree that bona fide tourist with CASH is OK to shop freely HK or Spore as these clients are well traveled. HourGlass would still not be in trouble especially with their 'supportive' clientele. These clients have not ditch HourGlass for HK retailers so far has proven the point that it makes no difference.
What difference does it make if these competitors open in Spore?
