The china stealth plane prototype has been around for quite a few years.
But, China has yet to able to develop their own modern high-performance jet engines for their fighters.
They still depend on Russia for the jet engines.

I think the most difficult things to manufacture are submarines and fighter aircradt engines. Many countries can develop the airframe electronics but when it comes to engines the get stuck, the indians struggled for 30 years to get their light combat aircraft off the ground, I not sure if the engines of their new stealth fighters are indegeniously built or bought from russia.

I read the masterplan of the PLA navy calls for 4 carrier battlegroups like the american formation. 2 will eventually base around southchina and other 2 for east china

but to defend their coast now china's existing surface and submarine naval fleet will prove more than a challenge. They currently have a large force of around 60-70 russian era diesel submarines enough to create a lot of mayhem to shipping, remember the devasting tactics of german submarine wolfpack.

These submarines are in process of transition to newer more quieter models some like kilo class are supplied by russia some they are trying to copy or build under license.

Think the newswire finally pick up this PRC 2nd stealth aircraft existence.
