I was taught both during my child-hood and during University, never cheat, even it had became a norm among your peers.

A highly educated and intelligent cheater is much more harmful to society than an average one.

The moment you are convinced it is OK to cheat, because your peer are, then you are able to find excuse to cheat for everything. Sad

It is sad to hear that it happen in Harvard. Sad

Harvard investigates 125 students for cheating
04:46 AM Sep 01, 2012

BOSTON - To be caught cheating at Harvard is bad enough. The prestigious university prides itself on incubating America's elite in the world of law, business and politics.

But now it has been revealed that about 125 Harvard students are suspected of cheating on a single class. And the course's title? An Introduction to Congress.

Though that will likely fail to surprise the many cynical observers of American politics, it has certainly stunned college officials.

School officials said on Thursday they discovered the students may have shared answers or plagiarised on a final. Harvard has launched an investigation.

"These allegations, if proven, represent totally unacceptable behaviour that betrays the trust upon which intellectual inquiry at Harvard depends," said Harvard President Drew Faust in a statement.

It just shows those are some really well trained lawyers Tongue

There's no substitute for integrity - you either have it or you don't. And if you don't, it's almost impossible to recover it because people remember.

As Buffett often says - it takes 20 years to build a reputation but just 20 min to lose it!

It's not 20mins, but 5mins...Tongue

Another Warren Buffett quote on Integrity, useful for those who does hiring, esp. own biz,

Somebody once said that in looking for people to hire, you look for three qualities: integrity, intelligence, and energy. And if they don't have the first, the other two will kill you. You think about it; it's true. If you hire somebody without the first, you really want them to be dumb and lazy.
It is interesting to note that more than 100 students of "An Introduction to Congress" were caught cheating, just goes to show what type of people are going into politics and congressman-wannabe.
It is surprisingly easy to convince one to cheat, with the excuse of "industry norm..." and "everyone did that..."

I heard many time of the excuse. I am glad i had always chosen the "right" way to do, rather than the "norm".

BTW i am still not sure it is the "norm" of the industry, or rather "norm" of a small group of cheater.
