But of course have to be aware, in event of a crash, the bottom is pretty far down, can become 10-20cent share easily. though it is a rough guide, during GFC times UMS did fall below 10cents when it reported losses for the 1H 2009, despite back then NAV was above 50cents.

for now the semicon sector still seems too be doing well, especially when you see companies like HDD manufacturing cheong woh business also picking up and with people still going crazy over all the new iphones/watches/tablets/etc...

Me in semicon industry and I can tell you now is not rosy horr..
My company just announced worldwide headcount reduction of 10% 3 weeks back despite making profits horrr...

This is coming from 4th Biggest Equipment Company...

First Quarter Semiconductor Sales Up 6 Percent Compared to Last Year

Applied Materials Announces First Quarter 2015 Results

thanks for the info on your company and hope you don't get hit by the headcount reduction.

But it seems sector still going ok compared to others like shipping and O&G despite weak global economy.

However considering the industry has been going pretty well since 2011, things may flatten out this year or even correct.

Your view seem to change rather quickly, mate..........
Yesterday - it was "likely to get more exciting"
Today - it is "things may flatten out this year or even correct"

view has not changed.

things may flatten or even correct is just me throwing caution in the wind after saying the industry is doing ok now as you can see from the report posted about the semicon still doing well and though not growing QoQ, there is still some growth YoY. Despite vesting and thinking there is still more upside in semicon industry, have also mentioned possibility of prices going back to 10-20cent level as a downside risk.

just as mentioned before, UMS is already trading above asset values but other fundamentals still look good.

Just curious how do u derive share may drop to 10-20ct level?
look at previous share price history in 2009/2010.

10-20c level is possible during crash time. Semicon is doing well now amid weak global economy, but is not as recession proof as other industry..
Please do not forget about the effect of bonus shares. At this level, I think it's still a value stock considering it's debt free with close working relationship and contract with AMAT. At 10-20c, it is probably deeply undervalued stock if fundamentally remain unchanged.
CIMB analyst view on the company...

UMS upgraded to 'add', target raised to 63 cents by CIMB

SINGAPORE (May 12): CIMB ( Financial Dashboard) has upgraded UMS Holdings ( Financial Dashboard) to "add" from "hold" and raised its price target to 63 cents from 55 cents, citing improving growth prospects.

Shares of UMS, which makes semiconductor components, are likely to re-rate as the business slowdown that started in June last year comes to an end, according to CIMB analyst William Tng.

The company's ability to generate strong cash flows, coupled with a healthy balance sheet (no debt) and minimal capital expenditure needs, will ensure that it can continue to pay dividends of five cents a share every year from 2015 to 2017, Tng wrote in a note.
