No, but I still treat him as my mentor coz it was him and the seminar that I attended that first introduced me to Value Investing. I wanted to join the MIP but I felt like it was costly for me. So I just bought their books and learned by myself. How about you? Your MIP member?
Recently, Ken Chee was featured on some popular sites for the wrong reasons. Many people misinterpreted his post. MIP is a good introduction for beginners, there was a review on HardwareZone. To me, I felt it was costly and certain things can be learnt by ourselves.

Sorry that I only spotted your reply now.
Ya!
Adult we may be; like a child will never learn if you just tell him the danger of playing with fire. Which most children (adult too) will play. Let them play but also let them go as near as the fire, so that they can feel the heat with almost some uncomfortable feeling almost of pain from burning sensation.
Then they will appreciate better the danger of playing with fire.

Anyway my child always learn better by practicals.
Actually most of us adults do too.
Maybe you are exceptional?
You can learn by making theory is always the same with practice.
Yes?

I may not have read many investment books, but I find the follow 2 books very informative and I have formulated my investment strategy based on the principles I learnt from them:

1) Value.able by Roger Montgomery

2) Winning the Game of Stocks by Adam Khoo

So far my investment results aren't bad, but not fantastic though. Still slowly finetuning my strategy. Will continue to invest in myself!

Hi Value Buds, I would recommend Quality of Earnings by Thornton O'Glove.

Why:

1. Practical
2. does the things most investor would nt do - reading (in btw) every line of the FS, footnote, and annual report
3. dont take earnings at face value
4. lastly, helps in adjusting earnings quality for better valuation

Hope it helps.

Cheers

I would recommend "Gone Fishing With Buffett" by Sean Seah which has a foreword by Mary Buffett.
Bumped across this book at http://valueinvestingsingapore.sg

This book is suitable to novice like myself, more like reading a story to understand the philosophy of Warren Buffett.
Some of the books with a lot of fundamental analysis and formulas could be quite taxing for me to complete reading until the last page.

1 Intelligent Investor?
2 Essays of W.B.? [a compilation of his letters to B.H. shareholders]
3 Common Stock, Uncommon Profit?
4 One Up On Wall Street?
5 Security Analysis
6 Random Walk Down Wall Street?
7 Winning the Loser's Game?
Or others?

For me, I am strongly influenced by 1, 2, 6 & 7. How about you?

These books should be a list of must read books for any investors. Each book is unique and has a special meaning. In addition, I'd recommend to read Buffett: The Making of an American Capitalist. At least you will enjoy this book. Wink
