Still trying to out work the liquidation NAV. If anyone has access to Bloomberg/VesselValues, we can get a good approximation of the value of the Aframax and MR tankers. Chemical tankers and smaller tanker values seem to be harder to find, though we can guess using the more recent transactions from TradeWinds.
The below provides tanker charter rates, which shows that charter rates for Aframax has plunged significantly since they were last contracted in 2015. No idea where the smaller tankers would get contracted at, though again we can try TradeWinds.

Interesting, didn't think too much about their methodology too much as it seemed to be consistent with real transactions that took place. Looks like it may be better to use several pricing sources (including Hellenic) to triangulate the price.

hi guys, I was just wondering.
How is the 3 YM contracts highly profitable at 20m a year? They bought those 3 ships in '08 at 210m with a 12 year contract.
20m x 12 = 240m
net profit after 12 years = 240m - 210m - financing cost + scrap value?
what am i missing?

Those ships are built in 2008. If we assume that the useful lifespan is 25 years, there will still be 13 years left in 2020...
