5 cents is my baseline expectations - hoping to be surprised from here

Well yes I would admit my hopes are for a special dividend, but since special dividends cannot be counted upon and Boustead (who knows?) may have some use for the cash, I prefer to remain conservative. After all, being conservative has helped a lot in giving me positive surprises with regards to dividends for my other companies.

If I were to give my pessmistic projection, I'd say 2 cents final and 1 cent special for a total of 3 cents. Added to interim of 2 cents gives a full year of 5 cents, or a yield of 5.74%.
Boustead just announced this evening that Salcon has clinched a $29M contract for SembCorp Industries' demineralisation plant at Banyan. Good news as Salcon's order book has been rather slow of late.

Hoping to see some decent numbers when Boustead announces FY 2012 results come Monday.
S$29m is the basecase number assuming there is no project completion since 30 Mar 12.

Final numbers will be boosted by around S$10m one-offs from sale of properties in Boustead House and the exercise of call option on Hawker Pacific facilities.

Personally, i think Boustead will come in flat relative to FY11. Hopefully total dividends will be 5 cents inclusive of 2 cents interims paid.

More importantly surprise us on cash pile.

Hi GG,

I am expecting more muted numbers. Looking at the results:-

FY 2011 NPAT: $52.2M
9M FY 2012 NPAT: $23.1M

Even after adding the one-off from Hawker Pacific and the $10M, I'd still expect a 20% drop in NPAT to maybe about $42M level for FY 2012. Would be good if they could remain flat year on year but at most I think they'd hit $50M (optimistic projection).

As for the $29M Salcon contract, Boustead announced their order book as $388M on May 11 when they announced DB&L for Jabil Circuit. Fast forward 2 weeks later, and assuming no changes, the order book is now $417M. So the difference is $29M.

You're expecting 3c final + special dividend? My expectation is 2.5c final dividend, up from 2c final in FY 2011; and no special dividend. Smile

EPS for 1st 9 mths = 4.6ct
Add the extra 2.2ct and extrapolate from 1st 9 mths gives 8.33ct.
So, unless there're further upside surprises for Q4 EPS, this'll be lower than FY11 EPS = 10.3ct ; closer to FY10 EPS = 8.5ct.

someone is using his crystal ball againWink

While i have seen all sort of courses on TA, FA and even Feng Shui, I think there's none that attempts to predict the profit and revenue. Maybe you can consider starting oneIdea

isn't everyone predicting the earning in some way for investment into a companies? Otherwise how do you investment without your own projection of the future of the company.

You got the facts mixed up. The tortoise grandmaster is 'swakoo' (mountain tortoise) and 'swakoo' doesn't read crystal balls. I'm the prodigal underling who goes aro' anyhow reading from my crystal ball. Tongue

'freedom' is right. You ought to do your own projections. It helps me to make buy/sell decision as an accurate enough projection helps me to decide if the current market price is attractive enough to buy/sell. You'll be surprised how inefficient the market can sometimes be as it becomes overly focussed on economic issues! Idea

oops, seemed like i have misidentified the mountain tortise. nonetheless, only a grandmaster is capable of reading from crystal ball - taking into account seasonality, raw material prices and e.t.c.

for me, i only do a simple extrapolation with the past 3Q results and then pray that results will be much better. just like how i have been praying that stocks will dive down, but it has failed so far despite lousy China's PMI, Germany flash PMI, lower UK GDP on the same day. seemed like more sincerity is needed before it will work
